Were horror comics such as Tales from the Crypt still being sold in the 70s?

I’m aware that they stopped being made in the 50s, and because of the comic code, couldn’t be made, but my mom told me that she used to buy them new in the 70s. I collect magazine-format horror comics by Warren Publishing that were made in the 70s and showed her those to see if that’s what she was talking about, and she said that they were actual comics she was buying.

Anything particular gruesome was, in fact, banned. If she was buying horror comics, she would have had to have been purchasing highly neutered, censor-friendly titles that bore little to no resemblance to the classic titles published in years past.

Alternatively, she may have been buying more underground titles, which could be produced without comic code approval, but wouldn’t be sold at any respectable store.
