Was there any person in Texas that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on?

I would like to know if there was any person in Texas that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on. I had heard a story that someone (I can’t remember the name, though) killed people and cooked them in chili.

I was wondering if there was some truth to that story or if it was just fabricated.

Eh, i don’t know anything about chili, but the movie is loosely based on the crimes of Ed Gein. Ed Gein basically did what leather-face did, yet to a more extreme. He targeted women and would rape/murder them and then after wards use their body parts for decorations in his house such as lamp shades. He even had some of his victims made into a sort of mask and costume get up that he would wear around his house. The story is pretty gruesome, but interesting from a sociological stand point. You should research it some more.
