What kind of spider?

I found this spider near my bedroom window.. it’s web was connected from the window ledge to the wall to my bamboo shades.. i guess the whole web was about the size of about 4″X4″.. the spider itself was about maybe an inch or so.. it was brown, but it had one of those big bubble butts (sorry, don’t know how else to explain that) and on the bubbled part it had darker brown little triangles or diamonds that were patterned like a checkers board. Does anyone know what kind of spider this was? Or if it was poisionous? I tried looking it up, but to no avail, since I did not have a chance to take a picture before my man killed it.

it sounds like it could have been a brown woods spider they eat bugs and are very scared of people they really are good for the area and will keep bugs away good luck and o by the way i would ahve killed it also good luck and have a great dayt
