Sensational Spider Man
Which Spider-Man titles to read?
Hi! I’m a Spider-Man fan, and I’m one with a dilemma. I started reading Ultimate Spider-Man a few years ago, and with only one title and no extensive history it was a perfect way to get into the comics. Recently, however, I discovered the Essentials (collections of black and white Marvel comics), and have been reading Amazing avidly. Unfortunately, I’ve now managed to read until 1976, when Spectacular starts up. At first I ignored the second title, but I’ve started running into things I’ve missed. They aren’t big events (Sha Shan turning up and Peter teaching classes) but I have a feeling it’ll get worse as even more titles get added.
What titles would you suggest I read? Obviously I’m going to keep reading Amazing, but what about Spectacular? Or Sensational? Or all the seemingly millions of others? What about all the crossovers, like Secret Wars, where Spidey comes in contact with the black suit? Help!
I’m feeling, to say the least, a bit overwhelmed. 
Essential Spider-man stories are going to be the death of Harry Osborn, death of Gwen Stacy, Secret War and anything leading to Venom, and J. Michael Stracynski’s run on Amazing.
Currently my favorite Spidey titles are Amazing, Ultimate, and Friendly Neighborhood. Amazing has, well, an AMAZING story going on right now. Ultimate is great too as a fresh new take on Spider-man. And Friendly Neighborhood has one of my favorite teams Peter David and Todd Nauck who worked on Young Justice. FN is a funner book is the way I look at it.
Oh yeah and pick up the issues of Spider-man Family that are coming out too. They have classic stories and alternate Spider-men like Spider-clan and Spider-man J.
