High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Action Comics is an American comic book series which introduced Superman, the first major superhero character as the term is popularly defined. The publisher was originally known as Detective Comics, Inc., and later as National Comics and as National Periodical Publications, before taking on its current name of DC Comics, a subsidiary of Time Warner. Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster saw their creation, Superman, aka KalEl (originally KalL), launched in Action Comics #1 in April 1938 (cover dated June). Siegel and Shuster had tried for years to find a publisher for their Superman character (originally conceived as a newspaper strip) without success. Superman was originally a bald madman created by Siegel and Shuster who used his telepathic abilities to wreak havoc on mankind. Spirit (Comics)

$82.85

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Spirit (Denny Colt) is a crimefighting fictional character created by writerartist Will Eisner. He first appeared June 2, 1940 in The Spirit Section, the colloquial name given to a sevenpage insert into American Sundaynewspaper comics sections. In the 2000s, following Eisners death, the Spirit appears in comic books published by DC Comics. The Spirit chronicles the adventures of a masked vigilante who fights crime with the blessing of the citys police commissioner Dolan, an old friend. Despite the Spirits origin as a detective named Denny Colt, his real identity was virtually unmentioned again, and for all intents and purposes he was simply the Spirit. The stories range through a wide variety of styles, from straightforward crime drama and noir to lighthearted adventure, from mystery and horror to comedy and love stories, often with hybrid elements that twisted genre and expectations.
