Costa Rica Experience – 4 Places YOU Need to Visit to Experience Costa Rica Like a Rock Star!

Little did our group know what this 9-day trip had in store for us. San Jose is the capital city of the country, but here’s where you need to go for a true Costa Rican Adventure.

1) La Fortuna

Not only is La Fortuna a small town overlooked by the beautiful Arenal Volcano, it is home to White Water Rafting, Cannyoning (waterfall repelling), Baldy Hot Springs, and a Jungle Hike that will leave you wanting more. Which of course, can all be done in two days. (Be sure to check out the biggest Disco in CR at night, the local tour guides will be more than happy to tag along with you.)

2) Monteverde

This Jungle town has some of the best zip lining opportunities in the world, including a Superman Zip line that will take you over 3,200 feet horizontally over the Jungle Canopy making any other zip line you have ever done a memory of the past. With over fifteen zip lines and a Tarzan swing included in one package, see who will be the first in your group to chicken out. Follow this tour with a canopy tour on the hanging bridges (ask your guide to catch an orange knee tarantula for you) or relaxing in one of the vintage bars in this small town (Tree Top). This is not meant to leave out the beautiful Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve where you are sure to see over 30 species of hummingbirds, a few mammals and maybe 1 of 5 cat species if your lucky! (Insider tip: Go to amigos bar in town and get a shot of the mysterious green moon.)

3-4) Quepos/ Manuel Antonio

Quepos is small growing city, which still shows plenty of signs of its humble beginnings. Stay here for the nightlife and cheap hotels but be sure to travel to neighboring Manuel Antonio during the day. Here you can take a tour of the Manuel Antonio National Park where you are sure to be surrounded by the call of howler monkeys, sloth’s sleeping in trees, a variety of lizards, Kaiman (towards the end of the tour) and a pack of Squirrel Monkeys if your lucky. Finish this tour on the beautiful beach (surfing) and be sure to go to the only rooftop bar behind the beach around 4pm. This is of course if you want to have wild squirrel monkeys come out of the jungle only to climb your clothing to eat bananas straight from your hands. The next morning be sure not to miss the Katarman Boat Ride, which will take you snorkeling off the cost, and quench your thirst with plenty of tropical drinks.
