Lot Comic Books
September 24th, 2008

would you buy an entire collection of comic books? how much….?
would you want to pay?
i have a pretty big collection of comic books and planning to sell
over 7,000 books
lots of silver age, key issues and variants
my question is would $35,000 be to much?
would you buy it? (assuming you have the funds)
this is just a general question and im curious only.
mycomicshop.com would give you a fair quote, but as the other answer said, you get better deals by selling smaller quantities. If you did ask mycomicshop.com, they’d expect a comprehensive list including condition.

Comic Books $93.99 A comic book (often shortened to simply comic and sometimes called a funny book, comic paper or comic magazine) is a magazine made up of narrative artwork, often accompanied by dialog (usually in word balloons, emblematic of the comic book artform) and often including brief descriptive prose. The first comic book appeared in the United States of America in 1934, reprinting the earlier newspaper comic strips, which established many of the storytelling devices used in comics today. The term comic book arose because the first comic books reprinted humor comic strips, but despite their name, comic books do not necessarily operate in humorous mode; most modern comic books tell stories in a variety of genres. The Japanese and European comic book markets demonstrate this clearly. In the United States the superhero genre dominates the market, even though other genres also exist. Comic Books as History by Witek, Joseph [Paperback] $42.9 This well focused and perceptive analysis of a phenomenon in our popular culturethe new respectability of the comic book formargues that the comics medium has a productive tradition of telling true stories with grace and economy. It details vividly the outburst of underground comics in the late 1960s and 70s, whose cadre of artistically gifted creators were committed to writing comic books for adults, an audience they made aware that comic books can offer narratives of great power and technical sophistication. In this study Joseph Witek examines the rise of the comic book to a position of importance in modern culture and assesses its ideological and historical implications. Jack Jackson, Art Spiegelman, and Harvey Pekar are among the creators whom Witek credits for the emergence of the comic book as a serious artistic medium. As American codes of ethics, aesthetics, and semiotics have evolved, so too has the comic book as a mode for presenting the weightier matters of history. It is safe to claim that comic books are not just for kids anymore. Author: Witek, Joseph Series Title: Studies in Popular Culture (Paperback) Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 180 Publication Date: 1989/12/01 Language: English Dimensions: 9.06 x 6.05 x 0.49 inches |

Sneaker Comic $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Comics, via the Latin c micus is a graphic medium in which images are utilized in order to convey a sequential narrative; the term, derived from massive early use to convey comic themes, came to be applied to all uses of this medium including those which are far from comic. It is the sequential nature of the pictures, and the predominance of pictures over words, that distinguish comics from picture books, though there is some overlap between the two media. Most comics combine words with images, often indicating speech in the form of word balloons, but pantomime strips, such as The Little King, are not uncommon. Words other than dialogue, captions for example, usually expand upon the pictures, but sometimes act in counterpoint. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Comic Book Collecting $101.96 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Comic book collecting is a hobby that treats comic books and related items as collectibles or artwork to be sought after and preserved. Though considerably more recent than the collecting of postage stamps (philately) or books (bibliophilia), it has a major following around the world today and is partially responsible for the increased interest in comics after the temporary slump experienced during the 1980s. Among comics fandom, the study of comics as a medium and an artform are sometimes referred to (individually or collectively) as panelology and people who collect comic books are known as pannapictagraphists.
