League America Comic

Poll: Marvel or DC Comics?
Some of Marvel’s characters – Spiderman, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, X-Men…
Some of DC’s characters – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, the Justice League…
Marvel. Xmen are like us all, strong but only in their own way, weak in others. They need to work together to overcome the villains. Most have 1 or 2 super powers.
They come from humble or even crappy beginnings just like us. Not a perfect Amazon jungle, Superrich whose parents died and left him everything, a faroff planet that allows him to have super powers on ours. DC is just too far from our own beginnings to let our imagination even begin to let us think like them.

Justice League $68.51 The Justice League, also called the Justice League of America or JLA, is a fictional superhero team that appears in comic books published by DC Comics. First appearing in The Brave and the Bold #28 (1960), the League originally appeared with a lineup that included Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter. However, the team roster has been rotated throughout the years with characters such as Green Arrow, Atom, Hawkman, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, Zatanna, Plastic Man, and dozens of others. Throughout the years, various incarnations or subsections of the team have also operated as Justice League America, Justice League Europe, Justice League International, Justice League Task Force, Justice League Elite, and Extreme Justice. Various comic book series featuring the League have remained generally popular with fans since inception and in most incarnations, its roster includes DCs most popular characters. Comic Books $93.99 A comic book (often shortened to simply comic and sometimes called a funny book, comic paper or comic magazine) is a magazine made up of narrative artwork, often accompanied by dialog (usually in word balloons, emblematic of the comic book artform) and often including brief descriptive prose. The first comic book appeared in the United States of America in 1934, reprinting the earlier newspaper comic strips, which established many of the storytelling devices used in comics today. The term comic book arose because the first comic books reprinted humor comic strips, but despite their name, comic books do not necessarily operate in humorous mode; most modern comic books tell stories in a variety of genres. The Japanese and European comic book markets demonstrate this clearly. In the United States the superhero genre dominates the market, even though other genres also exist. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 136 Publication Date: 2010/07/31 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.31 inches |

Socialist Propaganda League of America $93.99 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Socialist Propaganda League of America was established in 1915, apparently by C.W. Fitzgerald of Beverly, Massachusetts. As a membership organization within the ranks of the Socialist Party of America, the Socialist Propaganda League was the direct lineal antecedent of the Left Wing Section of the Socialist Party and its governing National Council the forerunner of the American Communist movement. In the fall of 1915, Fitzgerald wrote and sent a leaflet to Vladimir Lenin of the Russian Social Democratic Workers Party. Lenin replied, outlining his views on the situation faced by the revolutionary socialist movement. It was not until November 1916 that any sort of broadbased organization was established. A November 26, 1916, meeting in Boston approved a first manifesto for the organization and established an official journal, The Internationalist. According to the groups constitutional objectives, The SPLA declares emphatically and will work uncompromisingly in the economic and political fields for industrial revolution to establish industrial democracy by the mass action of the working class. Minor League $108.33 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Minor leagues are professional sports leagues which are not regarded as the premier leagues in those sports. Minor league teams tend to play in smaller, less elaborate venues, often competing in smaller cities. This term is used in North America with regard to several organizations competing in various sports. They generally have lesser fan bases and smaller budgets. The minor league concept is a manifestation of the franchise system used in North American sports, whereby the group of major league teams in each sport is fixed for long periods between expansions or other adjustments, which only take place with the consent of the major league owners. In England (and many other countries), the football leagues have many divisions below the topflight as part of the football pyramid. In other parts of the world there is usually either a system of annual promotion and relegation, meaning that clubs have no fixed status in the hierarchy, or there is only one professional league per country in each sport, rendering the major/minor distinction irrelevant. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 184 Publication Date: 2010/07/04 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.42 inches |

Laughter: An Essay on the Meaning of the Comic $20.79 Philosopher Henri Bergson was best known for his works on intuition, consciousness, time, and creative evolution. His writings included Matter and Memory, An Introduction to Metaphysics, and Creative Evolution, and he was said to have influenced thinkers such as Marcel Proust, William James, Santayana, and Martin Heidegger. After a career as a professor at the College de France, Bergson turned to diplomacy and writing, and was deeply involved with the League of Nations. While he won the Nobel Prize in literature in 1927, for a time his writings were shunned by devout Catholics. In Laughter, Bergson considers the meaning of the comic element in forms and movements, situations, words, and character. He regards the comic as a living thing with a logic of its own. It requires an absence of feeling, something like a momentary anesthesia of the heart. Its appeal is to intelligence, pure and simple. It must have a social signification; it must be within the human realm. Above all, since laughter inspires fear, the comic is seen as a check on our more eccentric impulses. Bergson wrote: In laughter we always find an unavowed intention to humiliate and consequently to correct our neighbour. Author: Bergson, Henri Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 212 Publication Date: 2005/04/01 Language: English Dimensions: 8.00 x 5.00 x 0.48 inches |
