Why do people look down on widows for marrying another spouse a few years later?

I’ve heard of several instances with this issue. But 1 of my friends had a husband who died in Iraq in 2005, serving in the military. It’s 2009 now, & she just got engaged to another man, & people are looking down on her & consider her a whore.

Oh i am sure she still loves her husband who passed and always will. There is nothing wrong with her finding new love and moving on. That doesnt mean she stopped loving her first husband…it just means she has such a big and loving heart that she can love again. Anyone who has something to say that is negitive needs to get a life and look at their own life. clearly if they are being negitive about this, then they have serious issues they need to work through in their own lives.
