Which comic book superhero is considered “The Defender of Man”?

I want to get a tattoo of my twins, one is Logan and the other is Xander. Logan tattoo representation will be X-Men’s Wolverine whose real name is Logan. But we didn’t really have a reasons for naming Xander, we just liked the name. When I look up the definition of his name, it reads “Defender of man”. So I want to know which superhero that most relates to. At work they tell me Superman, but then I have a Marvel/DC crisis on my hands. If it is indeed superman, have they ever crossed paths in any comics? If I could get a picture of the 2 of them together, that’d be even better.

dude it would be super hard to find them two together but i did find one pic but the quality is horrible…I would go with some other x-men like colossus or someone sick like that.
