What piece for the next step?
I’ve just completed my run for Ode to Joy for practice, and my teacher said I could pick out any -beginner- piano piece. If I couldn’t find one she would be handing me Clair de Lune (it’s so much better listening to it than playing it). What are some beginner piano pieces that I could pick out?
ps. I did search, but the current active users in this category seem to be more helpful.
John Field’s Nocturnes are very good beginner pieces that have been used by teachers for years, hell even Chopin taught with them. Speaking of whom, Chopin wrote a nice little berceuse which is quite simple (op57 if you cant find it)
Other than those you have Felix Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words or Erik Satie’s Gymnopedies and Gnossienes.
