Question about the Marvel Civil War comics?

This is my very first comic like ever, and I just kind of wanted to get a look since there are so many superhero movies out. Anyways since I heard the Civil War Arc is pretty cool I decided to read it. Still, I’m completely confused. Like what the heck is a bunch of heroes dropping dead here and there? And how do they continue Spiderman’s story if he’s apparently unmasked? Can someone explain to me how this stuff works, cause I vaguely understand the concepts that each arc actually have no continuity between each other or something?
oh and also what’s the point of the civil war arc? are the editors running out of stories to tell so wham war?

For some reason, every ten or twenty years the comic publishers decide to shake everything up in their comic line. The reason is it boost sales and bring more attention to their different books. Twenty years ago it was ‘Crisis’ at Superman’s Company DC that killed off and changed some characters. It was very successful.

Now Marvel did it with Civil War. Captain America, a lesser selling character died and other changes were made.

You ask :” how do they continue Spiderman’s story if he’s apparently unmasked?” The answer is that the writers have to work with the new continuity (at least temporarily.) So in the monthly series Pete has to struggle with everyone knowing.

They have other titles that have Spiderman when he was younger for younger people or for those people who liked the movies.

Maybe down the line they will decide its too difficult to work with everyone knowing and have something make everyone forget. They probably will have some big storyline so that Pete can get his old life back if the new storyline proves unpopular.
