In comic books, what was the greatest single storyline of all time?

I am more familiar with Marvel, somewhat familiar with DC and have read others as well. I personally hated Spawn who spent over one hundred issues pining for Wanda.
Please elaborate on your answer, factor in artwork, characters and any changes that was a result of these events and whatever else you might see fit to make your suggestion. As for my self, I would list the events of the first Warlock v/s Thanos saga from the mid seventies. I think that sets the bar pretty high.

Nothing beat the Avengers vs. the JLA . Kurts writing was ( is ) nothing short of fans dream ( especially when it concerns continuity , he leaves nothing open to debate . ) . And what can you say about George Perez’ artwork that hasn’t been said ? It was fair and decisive . The story actually got me emotional more than a few times , which never ( ever ) happens . He took extreme care of each individual main character and made it count .
