Comic Books Marvel

how can I get the attention of comic publishers like marvel or image to publish my comic books?
I’m an independent comic book creator. I have published my own manga style series, I have three 24 page comics total. I have a MySpace and other forms of average advertisement and I attend the motor city con, and xcape con every year selling my books. are there any main stream publishers out there willing to give a indie creator a chance?
Most companies have a special time they will accept outside submissions. Most of the larger companies will have that info on their websites. Did you try any of the manga companies, like tokyo pop? My brother just got published by them! It took him a long time and he received a ton of “sorry, not interested” letters. He also went to every Wizard World Con that was close by and talked to companies and other writers that way.
He has a Myspace too! I don’t want to share his name, but if you look for Tantric Strip fighter Trina, that is his creating. He is also working on another independent comic with Jason Copeland. They both have sites on myspace. Check them out, maybe they both can help you better than I can.
Good Luck to you!

Comic Books $93.99 A comic book (often shortened to simply comic and sometimes called a funny book, comic paper or comic magazine) is a magazine made up of narrative artwork, often accompanied by dialog (usually in word balloons, emblematic of the comic book artform) and often including brief descriptive prose. The first comic book appeared in the United States of America in 1934, reprinting the earlier newspaper comic strips, which established many of the storytelling devices used in comics today. The term comic book arose because the first comic books reprinted humor comic strips, but despite their name, comic books do not necessarily operate in humorous mode; most modern comic books tell stories in a variety of genres. The Japanese and European comic book markets demonstrate this clearly. In the United States the superhero genre dominates the market, even though other genres also exist. Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 136 Publication Date: 2010/07/31 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.31 inches |

Comic Books as History by Witek, Joseph [Paperback] $42.9 This well focused and perceptive analysis of a phenomenon in our popular culturethe new respectability of the comic book formargues that the comics medium has a productive tradition of telling true stories with grace and economy. It details vividly the outburst of underground comics in the late 1960s and 70s, whose cadre of artistically gifted creators were committed to writing comic books for adults, an audience they made aware that comic books can offer narratives of great power and technical sophistication. In this study Joseph Witek examines the rise of the comic book to a position of importance in modern culture and assesses its ideological and historical implications. Jack Jackson, Art Spiegelman, and Harvey Pekar are among the creators whom Witek credits for the emergence of the comic book as a serious artistic medium. As American codes of ethics, aesthetics, and semiotics have evolved, so too has the comic book as a mode for presenting the weightier matters of history. It is safe to claim that comic books are not just for kids anymore.
